Weeds can easily grow in pathways and
driveways after slate is spread. This can look unsightly and
pulling the weeds out by hand causes soil to be mixed with the
slate, further allowing weeds to grow. Our recommended solution is
the application of a geotextile membrane.
Geotextile
membranes are synthetic, water and air permeable and are
woven or spun. They last for an average of 15 years when covered
with a material such as slate. The membrane should be secured to
the ground at regular intervals with wire pegs. Membranes provide
excellent long-term weed control.
